Weekly Update 11/24/20

Dear Falcon Families,

I hope this Thanksgiving Break finds your family healthy and safe. As we are all aware, the COVID 19 Pandemic continues to impact our lives on a daily basis. I want to thank you for supporting our school and being flexible with all of the changes impacting our school schedule. Please remember our goal is to always ensure the health and safety of our students and staff while providing the best education possible. Your students did a fantastic job following our safety precautions during our Blended Learning Model.

Starting Monday, November 30th, Franklin Heights High School will be operating on our Remote 2.0 schedule through December 18th. This means students will be attending school virtually every day of the week via Google Classroom and Google Meets. Live sessions with teachers will be twenty minutes per class and students will have daily assignments to do outside of those live interactions. Students will need to sign in for attendance every day on Infinite Campus. Teachers will have weekly hours designated for parent contacts. On our website, each teacher has a link on our parent hub with information on how students will be expected to interact with their school work during Remote 2.0 learning. School counselors will also be available during Remote 2.0. Please visit our school website for reminders and short videos on how to utilize all of the Remote 2.0 learning tools. If you have questions about anything during this time period, please call the school at (614) 801-3200. The phones will be monitored daily during our remote learning session. Near the end of Winter Break on January 4, 2021, we will provide updates on how we will be returning to school.

Food Distribution: We will be offering food services during Remote 2.0 in a similar fashion to our offerings during the other remote sessions. Food does not need to be preordered. Food pick up will be Mondays and Wednesday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Students will not need to be present to pick up the food. Franklin Heights will distribute food from our cafeteria entrance in our North parking lot.

Chromebook Issues: If you have an issue with a district chromebook or remote hotspot for wifi, please email chromebookhelp@swcsd.us first. This service will direct you to the next steps if a repair or replacement is needed If you never received a chromebook or chromebook help advises you to exchange, please visit our main office on Mondays and Wednesdays between the hours of 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. If you are requesting a hotspot for the first time, call the school first to determine eligibility and make pick up arrangements.

Extracurricular Activities: There will be no athletic contests or performing arts events between November 24 - December 18. Participants should communicate with coaches or advisors regarding revised practice opportunities.

Please stay safe and healthy during this remote learning session. Following all public health recommendations regarding COVID-19 will help us get back to school sooner and keep us all as healthy and safe as possible. Please continue to notify the school of any positive COVID tests of students.

Espero este descanso del Día de Acción de Gracias encuentre a su familia sana y segura. Como todos sabemos, la Pandemia de COVID 19 continúa impactando nuestras vidas a diario. Les quiero dar las gracias por apoyar a nuestra escuela y por ser flexible con todos estos cambios que impactan nuestro horario escolar. Infinite Campus (IC) is the District’s Internet-based student information system. Important features of IC are the Parent Portal and NEW Mobile App. Through the IC tools parents are able to access their child’s information, such as class schedules, attendance, academic reports, transportation information, coursework, and put funds in their child’s food service account online. Parents can also designate how and where they wish to receive emergency communications, attendance calls, general announcement messages, and e-mail messages from teachers, the school, and the school district.

To create an IC account, please go to: https://sites.google.com/swcsd.us/parentresources/infinite-campus/parent-portal-mobile-app. Parents receive their Campus Portal Activation Key in the Back to School Letter mailed home in mid-August, prior to the start of school. Please keep this letter in a safe location and do not share your Activation Key with anyone - even your children. If you no longer have your Activation Key, please contact your child's school for parent and/or student Activation Key information. You will need to provide the appropriate identification before the school will release this confidential information to you. Again, please keep this information in a safe place and do not share it with anyone else.
